More Board Games ArticlesQuestion by coffeecoffeecoffee829: Stock market game..should I buy Exxon Mobil stock? Okay, I don't even understand the stock market much...so I'm not totally on board. I'm trying though!! Just thought I'd see if I can get any help on here. I do know that we have to invest in a stock we have 100,000 dollars. We need to write a paper about why we picked it and get a 5-10 year chart. Is Exxon Mobil good to invest in? I've been trying to find info online but I can't really find something that I can actually understand when I read it. Any websites in particular I should look at? Thanks Best answer for Stock market game..should I buy Exxon Mobil stock?:

Exxon's ticker is XOM and you can look them up at yahoo's finance. For your paper check the key statistics and the financials - Income Statement & p&L. Is Exxon a good stock - well they make a boat load of money - I can't figure out why the stock is so low and stays there. People are still buying gas. It is also a nice stock to own because it pays a dividend.

Exxon Mobile is a good stock but does not move in price (up/down) like other stocks. A good website to look for information is investopedia.com. Depending on what ur looking for, look for stocks that pay dividends.

Since this is a game, and you do not have real money at stake, you can go with any stock that strikes your fancy. In games, you probably want the highest appreciation in the shortest possible time, and you have really no risk because it's virtual money. So, I would not choose XOM for this purpose. You should bet on a Biotech or Tech stock that will jump up 100% or more, but of course can go to zero just as fast. If it was real money, XOM is a good, steady stock with little capital potential but pays a steady dividend and will be around for years to come.
